CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card)

The CPCWHS1001 – White Card course provides participants with the essential workplace health and safety (WHS) knowledge and practical skills required to work safely within the construction industry, including both building and civil construction environments.

This nationally recognised training equips learners with an understanding of construction site safety requirements and their responsibilities in maintaining a safe workplace. Participants will develop the skills to identify hazards, assess risks and apply appropriate control measures to reduce workplace incidents and injuries.

Course content includes:

• Understanding WHS legislation, duty of care and workplace safety responsibilities
• Identifying common construction and civil hazards, including excavation, plant and equipment operation, and traffic management risks
• Applying risk management and hazard control procedures
• Correct selection, use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Following site safety procedures, emergency response protocols and incident reporting requirements

Enrolment Requirements

To enrol in the White Card course, participants must:

• Must be 18+ years of age
• Have basic English language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills to read safety information and complete assessments
• Be physically able to demonstrate the correct use of PPE
• Bring two forms of identification, such as a driver’s licence and Medicare card (passport or student ID also accepted)
• Wear appropriate clothing and closed-toe footwear suitable for a construction environment

Successful completion of this course enables participants to apply for their White Card, a mandatory requirement for working on construction sites across Australia.
